Emily and I have both been knocked sideways by a very nasty bug for the last week… I won’t bore (or revolt) you with the details.
Suffice to say that we took turns playing the sick and bed-ridden patient, luckily with only a day’s overlap where were both under the weather with a demanding little daughter to look after.
But as these things do it passed, and I suddenly found myself on the phone at 5pm today talking positively about some things I’m working on and Emily pointed out that “I was back to my normal self”.
Still - I haven’t had a proper meal other than soup for, what, three days? I’m going to tentatively try to have something more substantial tonight.
But for now, I’m catching up on some work, answering the emails (and 21 voicemails after I lost my phone/had it stolen) that have stacked up and basically trying to keep my end up of various bargains. A difficult thing to do at the best of times, let alone when you’ve had your productivity blown out of the water by another in a series of events.
I’m starting to think that this modern life we live is more and more becoming a constant blur of overlapping interventions, interferences, opportunities and threats. Is there ever really a time when you actually “get round to doing x” any more, or is that an outmoded concept?
News also reaches me that John Xela, who I set up Type with has had a bit of a health scare too. Luckily it’s not as life-threatening as it might have been, but it just seems like a fair few people I know have had some bad things going on with them over the last few months. So I’m going to be helping him out with his move back from Manchester to Birmingham. It will be nice to have him back with us…
So does this make Type a Birmingham-only label we hear? Well yes. And does this mean we might be putting on some shows around here again? Umm, I guess so! I’ll let you know when we have more info on this.
So anyway, case in point. We went to the beautiful Westonbirt Arboretum a couple of weekends ago, and managed to grab an hour in the Acer area. This is possibly my favourite tree (cherry blossom is up there too), and at this time of year it’s fantastic to go and see. I’d recommend a visit, although the leaves were just turning when we were there so it may now be too late.
So these are a few of the shots that I took…
